Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dr Rowan Douglas Williams

President of the Corporation

Dr Williams was born in Swansea on 14th June 1950. He was educated at Dynevor Secondary School, then at Christ’s College, Cambridge, where he read Theology. After research in Oxford (on Christianity in Russia), he spent two years as a lecturer at Mirfield Theological College near Leeds. From 1977, he spent nine years in academic and parochial work in Cambridge. From 1986-1992, Dr Williams was Professor of Theology at Oxford. He was enthroned as Bishop of Monmouth in 1992 and Archbishop of Wales in 2000.

Chairman of the Council of the Corporation of Church House

Mr Webster has taken on the chairmanship of the Council as of April 2002. A financial journalist in his working life he has always been involved in Church of England affairs for many years including serving on the: Pastoral and Bishoprics Committees, Management Advice Committee, Investment Committee and serving as Vice Chairman of the Council for the Corporation of Church House.

Mark Cornwall-Jones

Treasurer of the Corporation

Mr Cornwall-Jones was appointed Treasurer of the Corporation of Church House in 2002 where he oversees the financial affairs of the Corporation following an extensive and distinguished career in the pension and asset management industries. Prior to his retirement in 1990 from John Govett & Co Ltd (now AIB Govett Asset Management) he served as Deputy Chairman from 1979 and Investment Director from 1983. He currently is Chairman of the Ecclesiastical Insurance Group plc and serves as a Director of the Trades Union Fund Managers Ltd, Richement UK Pension Trustees Ltd and Capital Gearing Trust plc. He is also Trustee of the Church Urban Fund, Sir James Knott Trust, the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust and the AIB Govett Pension Scheme.

Colin Menzies

Colin Menzies

Secretary of the Corporation

Mr Menzies was appointed Secretary of the Corporation of Church House in 1990. The Secretary's position at the Corporation is responsible for the overall daily administration of the Corporation of Church House. Previously with Christian Salvesen plc and RICS Edinburgh, Mr Menzies was educated at Keble College Oxford.

Alan Davey

Alan Davey

Deputy Secretary of the Corporation

Prior to joining the Corporation of Church House in 1998, Mr Davey served as Director of Finance and Administration for the Retirement Lease Housing Association, from 1995-1998. Previous to that he spent 20 years with the Alexandra Towing Company in various capacities including Group Chief Accountant. He joined Alexandra Towing Company after spending 15 years as Senior Audit Manager of Blease Lloyd & Co.
